Oregon Hazelnut Growers Spotlight

Oregon Hazelnuts

99% of the U.S. hazelnut crop is produced in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. This crop represents between 3-5% of the world hazelnut crop.

Hazelnuts are also called Filberts. Oregon has been producing hazelnuts for over 100 years! There are about 45,000 acres currently in production in Oregon.

Hazelnut trees naturally grow as a bush, but are trained to grow as a single-trunk tree. In the U.S. Hazelnut trees start to produce 2 to 5 years after they are planted and can produce for well over 80 years!

Hazelnuts are harvested in the Fall each year. Hazelnuts are high in energy and are packed full of high-quality vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants like Vitamin E, folate, calcium, potassium and magnesium, and Vitamin B Complex.

Hazelnuts are the official nut of Oregon.
